Previous hypotheses have pointed out that the protons that make up everything, including humans, will eventually disintegrate. The lifespan of a proton is more than 10 to the 35th power, which is longer than the age of the universe (approximately 13.8 billion years). However, if the decay of protons can be confirmed, it will be demonstrated that the matter in the universe is not eternal. Observations are continuing in various countries around the world in an effort to elucidate the universe. Observations of Hyper-Kamiokande will begin in 2028.
