A professor emeritus at Yokohama City University describes various negative effects, including "the expansion of non-regular employment, disparities in experience, an emphasis on personal responsibility, the entrenchment of inequality and poverty, the introduction of strict management and control measures that emphasize norms (zero tolerance) in schools, intense competition through academic achievement tests, management and control, and suicide as the leading cause of death among people in their 20s," and how neoliberalism is destroying society as a whole.
