Trench Garden (2004)
For about an hour and a half, Morita went into a trance and performed an improvised dance. Harada used three projectors (two 8mm film and one VHS projector), keyboards, percussion, etc., and improvised musical instruments to accompany her.
A typhoon was approaching that day, and Harada thought that no one would come, but strangely enough, eight people came to the theater despite the strong winds.
(The first day of the Horizon Blue Tokyo screening (2019) was also canceled due to a direct hit from the typhoon.)
The projector is placed on a turntable, so it can be moved freely around the theater.
It is difficult to play all the music live, so a portable minidisc recorder with pre-recorded music is also prepared.
While performing in the dark, Harada accidentally turned on the rhythm box attached to the keyboard.
Harada regretted making a mistake, but after the event, someone involved commented that the sudden rhythm was good.
Flashing lights were hung from the ceiling and toilet paper was swayed with a fan.
About five tape recorders recording deep bass sounds were placed under the audience seats, but the sound from the venue's large speakers was louder, so the deep bass sounds under the chairs could hardly be heard.
Before the show started, she quietly told Harada, "Don't darken the stage. If we make the stage too dark, the audience won't be able to see me. All filmmakers like to make it dark (wry smile)."
But Harada likes dark theaters, so he made it dark anyway.

Morita didn't protest to Harada, but Harada probably knew what she was thinking. And he thought to himself, "She'll never allow me to collaborate with her again."
