Marx and Engels: Collected Letters, Volume 3 02

After Marx's death, Engels immediately began work on completing parts two and three of Das Kapital.
Engels wrote letters to various people to keep them updated on the progress of the project.

Marx had been reporting closely to Engels when he was working on part one of Das Kapital, but while he was writing parts two and three, he did not contact Engels much and wrote alone.

After Marx's death, Engels was surprised when he first read the manuscripts of parts two and three of Das Kapital.

"It is hard to believe that he had kept such wonderful discoveries in his head for twenty years.
Part two is a scientific description, and part three will give everyone a thunderous shock.
Because for the first time the whole of capitalist production is grasped in (dialectical) connections, and the whole of official bourgeois economics up to that point will be overturned."

However, Marx's manuscripts were still messy.
Engels wrote in a letter, "It will take a considerable amount of time to complete (Das Kapital). I will abandon everything else until I have completed this work."

There was no one else who could complete the manuscript left behind by Marx other than his ally, Engels.

*As an aside, there are many people around the world who slander, attack, and ridicule Marx, but for some reason they are indifferent to Engels. This shows how little they have read the original texts.
