Just as a timeline showing the era was displayed at the beginning of "Horizon Blue (2019)," "MIDORI (1992)" uses pictures to convey what kind of era Japan was like at that time.
The gap between rich and poor is depicted.

In the middle of the film, an explanation of the history of Wonder Masamitsu's illusions(magic) is displayed. When Harada researched Japan's ancient history, he found out that those in power had executed illusionists.
These people in power also oppressed spectacles and culture.
Japanese "sumo" and "kabuki" were also initially oppressed by the government.
Actor Kyoka Asuka conveyed this to the audience in her lines at MIDORI Nakano Performance (1994).

At the beginning of MIDORI, the protagonist MIDORI says, "Because I was a child in a freak show, everyone bullied me," but this line was not in the original novel and was added by Harada. The gap between rich and poor, poverty, and the bullying of children are all the responsibility of politics.
