Two DVDs containing short animated films by Hiroshi Harada have been released.
Masumi Hirayanagi, who wrote the screenplay, also wrote "Crazy Thunder Road (1980)" directed by Sogo Ishii, and it is said that he wrote the script for "Japanese Folktales" with an anti-war message, which further increased Harada's motivation to create.
"Deitarabocchi" is the story of a short boy from a tribe of giants who is ostracized by his group, and an ugly looking rock. It is a work that contains a warm gaze towards minorities.
"Mimi-nashi Hoichi" is a ghost story written by Lafcadio Hearn.
A long time ago, the socially conscious director Masaki Kobayashi made it into a movie called "Kaidan".
This time, while pushing the boundaries of horror depictions for children's terrestrial television, Harada also pays homage to Kobayashi Masaki's version.
It also contains anti-war messages from Hirayanagi and Harada.
Published by COLUMBIA. We will not provide a link to Amazon as they are complicit in the Palestinian genocide through Project Nimbus, but the product numbers are COBC7403 and COBC7404.
Furthermore, due to the revision of the Copyright Act in 1971, Harada will not receive royalties even if this DVD is sold.
Also, since the companies that produce the content own all copyrights, Harada cannot freely screen or release it.
