Robotan
”Robotan”(1986) #35, C-1, layout: Hiroshi Harada
During that year, Harada was concurrently working on TV animation, producing individual works, working in labor unions, participating in citizen movements, being a member of the Japanese Communist Party, and playing in a band.
Later, work on TV animation became busy, and the band and the Japanese Communist Party withdrew. However, he remained close friends with the band and his fellow members of the Japanese Communist Party for many years.
During this period, Harada was elected to the central executive committee of the labor union and was extremely busy.
The labor union that Harada belonged to was an open shop format for freelancers.
The labor union was disbanded in 2019 due to the aging of its members, but Harada remained a union member until the end.
For ''Robotan'', Haryu, who is the art director of ''MIDORI'' and a band mate, participated in the background painting.
Since Harada and Haryu belonged to different companies, Harada marked the bottom left corner with an H to tell Haryu that the picture was drawn by him.
The composition of ''a contrast between a happy family and a frail elderly person'' continued in all of his works, including ''MIDORI'' and ''Horizon Blue,'' whether they were privately produced or commercial animations.
