Testimony about Korean slaves in Japan during World War II
During World War II, director Harada's mother, who was 15 years old at the time, miraculously survived forced labor and bombing.
She witnessed a large number of Korean people being taken away by Japanese officials in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture.
The Korean people never returned.
We uploaded the interview to YouTube, but YouTube unfairly deleted it, so I re-uploaded a small part of it to Vimeo.
”During the war, Japan enslaved the people of North Korea and China. Their main job was mining coal.
When Japan was close to defeat, they were killed.”
Recorded by Hiroshi Harada in the 1990s.
This interview will be used for Zahikiro.
