Resistance movies

“Tatakau Eiga (Resistance movies)” (written by Fumio Kamei/1989/Iwanami Shoten)

Fumio Kamei is a documentary film director.
During the war, he claimed in the script for the movie ''Mt. Fuji'' that ''Mt. Fuji is an active volcano''.
For this he was arrested by the Special High Police.
Japan during the war was contaminated with an extremely biased mentality, denying not only communism but science itself.
At the time, violence by right-wingers and those in power was rampant in Japan, and the police could arrest anyone based on their assumptions.

Kamei studied film in the Soviet Union when he was young and was acquainted with Eisenstein and Pudovkin.
When Kamei saw ''Potemkin'' for the first time, he was so shocked that his blood flowed upside down from head to toe.

Director Kamei's ''Sekai wa kyoufusuru(The World is in Fear)'' (1957) includes a photograph of a first-eyed fetus born as a result of the atomic bomb.
The book also includes a survey of parents of children with multiple deformities.
At the time, although Japan was a country that had suffered from atomic bombings, it was taboo to disclose the relationship between nuclear weapons and deformed children, and many facts were hidden.

This first fetus became the model for the boy in ''Zashikiro''.
