MIDORI sound effects

During the production of MIDORI, Harada learned how to create sound effects from Koichi Asanuma, an elderly and veteran sound effects engineer at the time.
Asanuma has a background in creating the sound effects for radio dramas for the Japanese radio station Nippon Broadcasting System (1954-).
In the anime, he was an assistant for '' Shonen Sarutobi Sasuke'' (1959) and was in charge of the sound for ''Astro Boy Episode 1 Pilot Film Preview Version'' (1962). *A different person is in charge of the sound for the TV version of Astro Boy.
In his later years, he participated in the recording of documentary films by New Left filmmakers such as '' Sanriduka'' and ''Minamata.'' (http://www.jmdb.ne.jp/person/p0236890.htm
Most of the sound effects used in MIDORI were handmade, but some of the sound effects used were from libraries from radio dramas from the 1950s.
That's why MIDORI's sounds should all sound nostalgic.
Current sound effects in anime and movies all sound the same because they use expensive libraries purchased from Hollywood.

Asanuma used an old-fashioned radio drama sound effect machine in MIDORI.
A ''Toribue(bird whistle)'' (C) was used for the bird in the forest scene with MIDORI's puppies. It's a small wooden whistle that makes a bird's cry on its own, but when you add water to it, it makes a different sound.
The voices of the puppies were performed by female voice actors.

A wooden device called ''Kishimi'' (A) was used for the scene with MIDORI's father. When you move the two trees, a "GIGIGI..." sound will be heard.
In Zashikiro, we created a similar sound by moving the joints of an old wooden desk (B).
